It's a 'Single Serve Coffee Maker' world out there!
The words "Single Serve Coffee Maker" seem to be every where lately. Every company is launching some sort of
Single Cup Coffee Maker, or a new line of Single Serving Coffee Makers.
It seems to me, that sitting here in our little CoffeeMakers411 office, every 2nd email or review we get sent, is about
Single Serve Coffee Makers.
Where on earth do you start? What makes one different to another?
Which machine uses which sort of Coffee Pod, or K cup, or T Disc? And they all look
so Space Agey (Is that even a word?)... Have no fear... Our crew at CoffeeMakers411
are always here if you have a question regarding a Single Serve Coffee Maker. And if you can't seem to
find an answer to a question on this site, go to the Contact Us page,
write us a nice little letter, and we'll get you the info you need.
This CoffeeMakers411 Community is made up of people in the
Coffee Maker industry, so an answer to your question - no matter how big or small - is never too far
away!
When looking into buying a new Single Serving Coffee Maker, there are two important questions
you need to ask -
1. What sort of coffee do you drink? Are you an espresso only drinker? Or do you prefer a
milder brew style coffee? Would you like a machine that can maker tea and hot chocolate as well as coffee?
Write down, or at least think about what your needs are. This will help you with the 2nd important
question to consider when buying a Single Serve Coffee Maker -
2. What sort of coffee do you want to use? Do you like the flexibility of using your own
freshly ground coffee? Or maybe you have seen some flavoured coffee pods of hot chocolates, and you're
keen to give them a whirl... You really need to decide how you want to make your coffee, before you
can decide on which Single Cup Coffee Maker will be best for you.

The pictures above show the main ways you can buy coffee for your Single Serving Coffee Makers. Some
machines will be able to use several of these ways, others will only have one main way to prepare coffee.
Which way is best? That really depends on your taste, your circumstances... and I guess to a point,
your budget!
So on this page we will try to give you a look at some of the most popular Single Serve Coffee Makers.
What makes each one different. What features you may find just right for your needs!
And you will have your chance to tell us - and anyone else interested - which Single Serve Coffee Maker
you feel is The Best Coffee Maker. Perhaps you want to tell us your secret way to making the worlds
best Cup of Joe! Or your review on the latest blend from your Favorite Coffee Pod Brand.
So -
starting in no particular order of importance...
Tassimo by Bosch
The TASSIMO by Bosch is a great little machine. And by 'little' I mean size, certainly NOT performance!
This machine has the ability to make several different types of hot drinks, not just coffee.
So if you feel like a tea or hot chocolate for a change, just pop in the appropriate pod - and Hey
Presto!
The Tassimo by Bosch uses a type of coffee pod called a 'T Disc' made by Tassimo.
And though this machine can ONLY use T Discs, this is really not a bad thing, as the range of drinks
that come in a T Disc is nothing short of fantastic! Real milk cappuccino, creamy latte, short espresso...
all there in a neat little package. And some of the worlds biggest companies are represented,
including Starbucks, Mastro Lorenzo, Carte Noire, Seattle's Best,
Nabob and many more.
On the top of every T Disc a unique bar code tells the machine
what sort of drink you are preparing. The size of the drink, the amount of water required,
its optimal brewing temperature, and how long to brew it... it all happens automatically for you. Of course if you
want to take control, you can tell the machine what brew strength you are after.
All in all, the team here at CoffeeMakers411 seem to rate this machine quite highly... or so
an empty pile of T Discs would indicate. However, we would love to hear from all you out there.
Anyone with a machine they love, a favorite coffee, a secret tip? Let us know!!!

Bunn My Café
If you are after a super fast, super high quality coffee maker, the Bunn My Café Single Serving Coffee
Maker is for you. This little baby can brew a cup of your favorite Joe in just 30 seconds! You can choose between
a 4oz. brew through to a 12oz at your desired strength.
You can also brew tea, or just grab some hot water, which is really handy.
This machine is suitable for most standard coffee/tea pods from 45mm to 65mm. (This DOES
NOT include the hard shell type pods such as a T Disc, Nspresso Capsule etc.) The range of standard
coffee pods is HUGE though. And you can even buy a nifty little machine to make your very own coffee
pods from ground coffee ot tea leaves. So the skies the limit really!
If you love the idea of creamy lattés, short espressos,
and machiatos... then this machine is probably not for you. If however you want a brew style single serve
coffee maker, with bomb proof construction, huge water reservoir, and many other very handy features - then
the Bunn My Cafe Coffee Maker is about as good as it gets. You will find these machines cost a little
more than it's competitors, but read the reviews and you'll fast see that this machine is worth every cent!

Nespresso
Now if you are an Espresso fiend... It's pretty hard to look past the Nespresso line of Single
Serving Coffee Makers.
As I mentioned on the Nespresso Coffee Makers page (currently under
construction!) buying a Nespresso machine is a bit like buying a European racing car. They are
fantastic to look at - simply oozing style, great to drive, and are incrediably consistent!
To continue with the
analogy, there really are two types of people when it comes to cars, and coffee. One type is all
about watching their pennies, skimming every last dime where they can, trying to get an 'all-rounder'
to maximise their options... At the end of the day, an Astin Martin or a Mustang is NOT this type of
car! In the same way that a Nespresso is NOT that type of Coffee Maker.
And that is just fine by our other type of person. Driving to them is about a
feeling, an emotion, an air that can not be found by driving a smart car! And a freslhy brewed
shot of coffee isn't just a
hot drink...
Have I lost you?
Sorry... I love my coffee, and I appreciate VERY MUCH what Nespresso are doing with their machines.
Which is set the standards of both build quality and design styling, very high.
Nespresso Coffee Makers use a 19 bar pressure pump to extract what we feel is one of the best 'At Home'
Espresso shots you will find from a machine under 500 bucks.
You choose the size and the temperature, it delivers a
shot of pure, rich, aromatic espresso for you! And if you want to spend a bit more than 500, Nespresso
will accomodate you with some of the most beautiful fully automatic coffee machines on the market.
With a Nespresso Coffee Maker, you will have to use their own brand of coffee capsules, but they have a
great range available. From a small powerful jolt from their Ristretto, or a pure origin shot from
India, Columbia or Brasil - through to their florally wonderful Vivalto Lungo... my personal pick for a
mid-afternoon long black.
