My Bunn Coffee Maker Review - Bunn BX-W

by Steve C. OKC.

My Bunn coffee maker review - BX-W model. I Love coffee and so does my wife. We are on our second Bunn BX-W ( w = white I assume) It has a tank that keeps the water at brewing temperature and makes ten cups in about 3 minutes. This is especially handy if we have company over and want to make a quick pot of coffee, and of course saves time in the morning when I am rushing to get ready for work.

The only thing some people may find undesirable is that the Bunn coffee maker is on all the time keeping the water hot. But I think it is worth the time saved waiting for brewing. Also it needs to be de-limed every once in a while, and comes with a tool to do this, which only takes a minute or two.It does have a switch to turn off the holding tank while you are away on vacation.

I also like to use the Bunn to make tea or hot cocoa. It saves a lot of time having instant hot water.I just pour in the cold water and close the lid and the hot water fills the decanter, add tea bags and wait ten minutes ....and WHULLAH ... you have home brewed tea! Or you can just use the hot water to make a hot cup of cocoa. I have even use it to make instant cup-a-soup!

You can make up to ten cups of coffee, but if you want less just fill the decanter to the amount you want to make and pour it in, only that amount of hot water will flow out of the tank into the decanter. (Note: be sure to place the decanter under the brew funnel before closing the fill lid , the hot water will start flowing immediately after the lid is closed)

This is improved from the last model we had that came with a pitcher to pour the water in with, as the hot water started flowing as soon as you began to pour.

Our old Bunn coffee maker finally gave out when the tank began leaking... it was over five years old though. We also prefer to use the Bunn coffee filters because they are just a little bit taller. The cheaper ones are shorter and some coffee grounds will float over the edge and get in the pot.

When doing this review, I couldn't think of anything I don't like about our Bunn coffee maker, I believe we paid about $110 several years ago now and I think it is worth every penny. When it quits working you can be sure we will get another just like it... we love it!
