For serious coffee fans, the Mazzer Super Jolly Coffee Grinder is well worth the investment. One of the best coffee grinder machines I've used.

When there are so many unreliable coffee grinders on the market, it’s an absolute pleasure using the SJ. It handles absolutely anything I throw at it, since I’m only using it at home, and it’s always nothing but reliable and efficient.

The grind settings are stepless, so there’s a near-infinite variety of grind types from espresso fine through to coarse. It’s a very sturdy (very heavy!) mechanism as well, so there’s never any danger of the grind setting slipping half way through.

So at every level I’ve tried it, grinds have been extremely consistent. It’s also pretty easy to get into the burrs if you needed to clean or replace them.

I’ve tried the Mazzer coffee grinder for French press and espresso machine so far, but you could spend ages getting to grips with all the possibilities. It’s not ridiculously noisy for a grinder, though as with any of them, it could stand to lose a few decibels.

It’s also a very large coffee grinder for home use, but there are a couple ways around this that I’ve found so far.

First off, the bean hopper at the top of the coffee grinder really dwarfs all my other kitchen appliances, and since I’m only making a cup at a time I decided just to remove it. Just throw the beans straight into the grinder and hold some kind of lid over the top - only restaurants and bars really need a hopper full of beans.
