Breville Keurig Coffee Brewer Review - Our K-Cup brewing little Genius!!!

by Suzy Q

This Breville Keurig coffee brewer review by Suzy Q (great name!) looks into the pros and cons of buying a Keurig Breville coffee maker. Look here for more information about Keurig Coffee Makers. Remember you can always add your own Breville Keurig coffee maker review as well.

We received our Breville Keurig coffee machine as a gift for our wedding shower, and we absolutely love it! We have both just loved the K-Cup varieties, and the speed of making a cup of coffee.

My husband and I both have very hectic jobs, and sometimes I work up to an 11 hour day, so we use it a lot!

We had heard from others that it was kind of expensive to buy one, and that normally people only buy these types of brewers if they have a business or an office full of people. However, my friend's parents' had one and they said it was the best coffee maker they had, so we decided to register for it.

Some really great things about it are that it is very conservative with the amount of water used while it brews; so you don't end up wasting half of it for no reason like you would with most other brewers!

One downside is that this coffee maker is a bit noisy in the morning, but we didn't see that as a huge sacrifice because it is so fresh every time you brew; so we said, we can deal with a little noise!

I do think, that as far as the price goes, this is an excellent brand for the money. Keurig also has what are known as K-Cups or Keurig cups, which are certain types of coffee and tea that will work with your brewer. So far, we have tried a number of these when we have had family in from out of town that end up staying over night, and it was a huge hit with everyone the next morning because the taste is exclusive (especially with the teas).

We have also found that our Keurig brewer is exceptional when it comes to convenience; My husband gets to have his cup of coffee precisely as he likes it, and I get to have mine precisely the way I like it!

One thing that we have had minor problems with, however, is that it sometimes will brew different amounts into the cup, so you never seem to get the same amount on most occasions. Granted, I only consider this a minor problem because I usually have more than one cup of coffee in the morning anyway.

Also, the settings are kind of neat because you normally don't see a wide variety of settings with most coffee makers. The one that we own has an LCD light and allows you to program the clock, and it also has an adjustable temperature range.

When we started using it my husband said "Wow, I'm still not used to this little light, and when it comes on, I'm always thinking it's because I did something wrong."

Any problems that we have experienced with the Keurig brewer have been rare, and most of them only happened on a couple of occasions. Every now and then, it will make us remove the water reservoir and then put it back in before it comes up with the "ready to brew" option. We have found that if we unplug it and plug it back in on these mornings, it usually is alright.

One thing to be aware of is that the Breville Keurig Coffee Maker does take up a lot of counter space, which we did see as a down-side because we lived in an apartment at the time and did not have any counter space to begin with, but it does appeal to the eye since it has the chrome on the outside, and we love that!

Overall, I do admit that it does have a few flaws that could be redesigned or advanced by the manufacturer, but let's face it: You are going to get a minimal amount of problems with almost any coffeemaker that you buy, and any help that we have needed or had questions about was promptly provided to us by the customer service department.

In my opinion, I think the Breville Keurig Coffee Machine is a great coffee machine considering all the features that you get with it!!

Lets give it a 4.5 from 5

When it works....
by: Doug

I have gone through 2 Gourmet Single Cup Brewer?
BKC700XL within a month. Seems to be a pump issue. Not sure if the pumps get an air blockage, but both machines only lasted 10 days before they failed. Great when it works...

Answer from Billy at CoffeeMakers411 -

Hi there Doug,
Sorry to hear about your issues with the Breville Keurig Machines... Have you spoken with Keurig regarding these issues? If so, what was their response?

Thanks for your comments,

Billy

Mine's on the fritz, too
by: CJ

I LOVE this brewer, but I've run into a lot of problems with it not dispensing the coffee. When I contacted Breville they advised that I'd just need to use a paperclip on the "pins" that pierce the K-cups, which we did. Still no coffee being consistently delivered.

This was an expensive brewer and I love it when it works.

Planned Obsolescence?
by: Tom

Same pump issue twice!

My first one lasted about 13 month's. I gave it another shot since I did like the coffee and the convenience.

I have had my second one about 9 month's and the pump is making strange noises same as last time. I am waiting for it to stop working any day now.

These are not inexpensive and there is no way I will buy a third one.

It's not just me because my niece had the same problem. I will definitely be looking at another manufacturer.

I can't believe that Keurig customer service would tell you to use a paper clip. Are they kidding. Just make a quality machine that lasts.

For the record I am the only one that uses it and rarely more than twice a day.

Another pump issue
by: Mike M

I have had the same pump problem now on three Keurig Breville K Cup brewers.

The original lasted 6 months then the pump began to leak. The machine was replaced by Breville but only worked for a few days until the pump would not deliver water.

The latest (second replacement) has lasted 5 months. Over Christmas it became slower and slower and now will not deliver water at all - even in the absence of a K Cup. There is something basically wrong with the design and/or manufacture of the Breville unit.

Even though the machine is expensive it is difficult to deal with the manufacturer

Breville Defective

My friend bought this beautiful machine and then the pump went out after a week. She returned it and in the mean time bought a Cuisinart Keurig. She gave me the brand new Breville and it only lasted 3 days :-(

NUTS!
by: Peg

I am a confirmed Keurig user and was delighted with the appearance of the Breville unit...over the years we have burned out two Keurigs so we figured we give this snazzy looking one a try. I'm going back to the cheaper standard Keurig version...this has lasted less than a year and the pump is failing. It now takes about 10 minutes of re-trying and genuflecting to get a decent cupful out of it. Is this really rocket science? Why is it so hard to manufacture a unit that will last more than a few months?
